Digital Radio Mondiale to introduce ‘Global Radio with Benefits’ at IBC 2014

With just a few days to go before the start of this year’s International Broadcasting Convention (IBC) in Amsterdam 12th – 16th September, Digital Radio Mondiale (DRM) is preparing for what is the busiest event in its annual calendar.  IBC is the leading global tradeshow for broadcasters and media professionals and attracts over 150,000 visitors every year from over 160 countries worldwide.

This year visitors to IBC can find out all the latest news on DRM developments by dropping in on its short and practical ‘Pit-stop’ events. The first ‘Pit-stop’ will be on Friday 12th September at the Ampegon stand (Hall 8:D35) from 1600 where guests will hear about the latest exciting receiver developments in India.  On Saturday 13th September, Thomson Broadcast will be marking their recent return to the Consortium by hosting a second ‘Pit stop’ event at their stand (Hall 8:C35) from 1200 until 1300.

On Saturday (13th) afternoon, the DRM Consortium member Nautel Ltd (Hall 8:C49) will host a ‘tell and show’ DRM event concentrating on what has really happened in DRM since 2013. This year in their session ‘Building to a Billion and Beyond’, Nautel representatives and other Consortium companies from India and around the world will give the latest news on the Indian DRM transmitter roll-out

Ruxandra Obreja, the Consortium Chairman, says that: “This year in Amsterdam we will demonstrate that DRM is becoming established globally. During IBC we hope to make an exciting announcement to underline that global, green and extremely cost-effective DRM is not just the future of digital radio but a reality for the listeners now.”
