DRM Recommended in South Africa

The South African Ministry of Communications has just published a policy directive on the introduction of digital sound broadcasting in the country.Comments are invited (within 30 days) on the suitability of the the recommended standards which are: DRM for large coverage area (DRM30) in MW and DRM for local coverage in band I and Band II (FM) or DRM+. “Such can be used to complement analogue FM sound services in the short to medium tern and replace analogue service in the long term.”
DAB+ and ISDB-TSB are considered candidate technologies for band III, after the switch-off of terrestrial analogue television.   Read more
