DRM Update for HFCC Members

DRM Update for HFCC Members

The DRM Consortium was invited to the recent HFCC Conference held in Istanbul 25-29 January.  An update was delivered by both the Vice-President of the DRM Consortium, Alexander Zink, and by the Marketing Director of the Consortium, Radu Obreja, highlighting among others the achievements scored by All India Radio in their DRM roll-out and of the trials of the DRM30 trial in South Africa and of DRM+ in St. Petersburg (Russia).

The meeting also discussed the progress made by chipset and radio manufacturers in adding the DRM standard (both the DRM30 and DRM+ modes) to their products.  Also considered were the best ways to ensure that DRM and/or multi-standard receivers are being distributed widely for the benefit of those listeners receiving shortwave programmes across the world. Getting more precise information on times but additionally estimated listeners numbers was discussed in Istanbul this year and HFCC members were asked to send regular updates of their international broadcast schedule, in order to inform the public of exact transmission timings.
