Feedback On The Syndicat National Des Radios Libres Conference

The Syndicat National des Radios Libres (SNRL) conference in Nantes (26-27 May) was attended by well over 100 delegates from the French local and community broadcasters. Lindsay Cornell, BBC Principal Technologist and Technical Committee chair of the DRM Consortium, participated in a panel session on the future of radio along with Rachid Arhab (Conseil Superieur de l’Audiovisuel – French regulatory body ), Laurence Franceschini (Culture Ministry), Jamal Shalak (DRFrance) and Pierre Boucard (SNRL) where the technologies and content propositions of digital radio were discussed. The desire of the smaller broadcasters to add DAB+ and DRM+ to the current DMB-radio legislation was made clear and the CSA and Culture Ministry appeared to be open to further discussion.
