Since DRM is “flexible”, when would you use a lower bit rate than maximum for DRM?

The lower the bit rate used for sound and data applications, leaves more data for error correction hence a more reliable reception. As a result, there is a trade-off between data rate, the coverage area, the transmitted power, and the height of the antenna above the surroundings. These parameters are adjustable for achieving best service in targeted area and this completely justifies the “flexibility” claim for DRM.
