In the recent launch and demo I was disappointed that you have not extended the calculator to include RFmondial’s 6 channel modulator. To divide the cost of DRM transmission by 18 will cause a sensation.

The DRM Energy Efficiency Calculator tool focuses in general on the energy savings specifically for both AM and FM the answer could be quite simple. Divide the transmitter power and costs by 6 as we can run up to 6 signals on one FM frequency form one transmitter.

A Multi-DRM setup will also provide huge additional savings in terms of frequency bandwidth consumption (no guard gaps required between transmissions), equipment space/maintenance (single transmission for multiple DRM broadcasters), etc. multi-DRM signals from a single FM transmitter. Every DRM signal can originate from an individual broadcaster, who remains in full control over both content and the on-air configuration. Transmission of up to 6 DRM digital blocks (18 Audio + 6 Multimedia Journaline services) was demonstrated from the VS series Nautel transmitter, which has 600 kHz bandwidth, enabled by the RFmondial DRM modulator in India recently.

So, when it comes to energy efficiency, every single DRM transmission from that shared transmitter benefits from the calculated power reduction. So for a shared FM band transmitter in Multi-DRM mode with 6 individual DRM blocks, the overall power saving will be 6x the power saving of a single DRM block.

In summary: Just type in the total number of individual DRM blocks into the calculator tool, irrespective of whether they are broadcast in a single-transmitter or Multi-DRM mode, and the tool will provide you with the correct results.
