DRM part of Asia Broadcasting Union Digital Broadcasting Symposium with its Spotlight on Digital

The Digital Radio Mondiale (DRM) Consortium was well represented during the DBS Conference and Exhibition held In Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) between the 29th Feb and 3rd March 2016 with both presentations and a dedicated workshop. They all fitted under the wide umbrella and theme of the future of digital radio of which DRM is an important component.

Key industry players like Fraunhofer IIS (Germany), Nautel (Canada), Ampegon (Switzerland), the BBC (UK) took part in the well-attended (over 50 participants) workshop on March 2nd.The aim of the workshop was to familiarise or to remind the specialist audience of the practical and undeniable benefits of rolling out the DRM standard in Asian countries, many with vast, geographically and ethnically diverse territories. DRM with its latest technical setup helps broadcasters to fully cover these countries digitally by using DRM in both the AM as well as in the VHF bands.

The workshop was interactive allowing for many pertinent questions to be answered by the DRM specialists. In addition, many recent sound and visual demonstrations were used to illustrate the power of the DRM radio standard.
