Shortwave offers various possibilities, especially now that these broadcast bands are less crowded. Firstly, DRM by shortwave provides stereo voice/music broadcasts with FM-like quality over national, regional and international distances along with text information, EWF functionality, possibilities for distance learning etc.
Additionally, the long range and short delays of DRM in SW mean the applications for data transfer are being investigated for various applications, such as the signposting application presented, or long-distance services to maritime users on ships, already demonstrated and in use.
