THE DRM German Platform held its Annual Meeting in Berlin

Joachim Lehnert – DRM Hon Member

The annual meeting of the German DRM Platform took place in Königs Wusterhausen, south of Berlin. This is the birthplace of the German sound broadcasting, born here exactly 100 years ago, in 1920. During the meeting the outgoing Platform chairman, Mr. Joachim Lehnert, due to retire in January 2021, was praised and honoured for his five years’ chairmanship of the German Forum. He was inducted as an honorary DRM Consortium member, joining thus a select and small group of wise DRM experts across the world.

Many thanks were addressed by colleagues to Joachim for his commitment to DRM.

One important item on the agenda of the meeting was the presentation of a field trial – DRM in FM-band II – in Copenhagen/Denmark  which is scheduled to start later in 2020. Further agenda topics included the distribution of data via DRM to critical infrastructure points like power stations, waterworks, hospitals etc. The German Platform members also discussed the future use of DRM on the FM band II after the  shutdown of the analogue FM broadcasts. The next meeting of the DRM German Platform is planned for the end of 2021 in Kalundborg/Denmark.
