Full Membership


Full Membership is aimed at all companies and organisations involved in broadcasting, manufacturing industries and general telecommunications wishing to become major players in the DRM Consortium and in the countries they represent or where they are active. They need to bring solid contributions towards the standard’s roll-out and promotion, turning DRM products and its key services into reality.

The DRM Consortium gives all benefits special priority and support to Full Members, so that they can achieve their business aims, organisational and commercial goals.

Full Membership Benefits

Commercial Product Support
  • Use of the registered DRM trademark for products and product promotion (after technical self-certification confirming standard compliance)
  • Technical receiver test and verification support, including the new DRM xHE-AAC Conformance Bitstream library
  • Special DRM trial and demonstration testing files
New Members Member Benefits
  • Get expert opinion and support (including assistance, if applicable, for setting up DRM trials and demonstrations).
  • Get networking contacts.
Networking Opportunities
  • Full Members get the best B2B platform to meet and build contacts related to DRM business.
  • Invitations to DRM events and major international media exhibitions, ensuring appropriate visibility.
  • Presence at international events representing both the Consortium and their own companies.

  • Access to the xHE-AAC Audio Conformance Bitstream Library.
  • Access to the members-only monitoring platform of live DRM transmissions worldwide.
  • Opportunity to author specialised articles on DRM for the international press.
Marketing and PR Support
  • Present with company logo on the DRM website.
  • Right to use the DRM logo to indicate general company membership and support of the DRM project on the company’s website, at trade show booths, in presentations.
  • Support from the DRM Project Office for DRM-related news and communications.
  • Support and advice on trials, demos, presentations and events.
  • Opportunity to present or co-organise DRM events with Consortium support.
Voting Rights
  • Right to participate and vote in DRM internal meetings (General Assembly, Steering Board, etc.).
  • Eligibility to serve on the Steering Board defining DRM’s strategic direction.

Associate Membership


The term “Associate” designates an organisation or company that is itself not a broadcaster but may be involved with regulation, licensing or other aspects of broadcast administration and transmissions, or any other company involved in the development of broadcast-related services and equipment. Associate Members have a right to participate in the DRM General Assembly and have their logo displayed on the DRM website. Associates have no voting rights and cannot become members of the Steering Board nor chair any DRM Consortium Committee.

  • Access, upon approval, to certain documents in the members-only area.

  • Listing with logo on the DRM website.
  • Right to use the DRM logo to indicate general company membership and support of the DRM project on the company’s website, at trade show booths, in presentations.
    (However, to use the registered DRM trademark for and on products and product promotions, the DRM Associate will need to become a Full Member enjoying the Full Membership benefits as listed above).
  • Support from the DRM Press Office for communications and announcements.

Free Introductory Associate Membership


The DRM Consortium offers a Free Introductory Associate Membership (a “taster”) to incentivise interested companies and organisations eager to promote and introduce DRM in their own countries. This membership runs for one DRM financial year, which is April to March (or the remainder of the DRM financial year) and requires only a very small one-time registration charge. Anyone joining less than 6 months before the end of the DRM financial year will be considered for a 12-calendar month free membership.

Free Introductory Associate Membership Benefits

  • Access to the best B2B platform to meet and build DRM-related contacts.
  • Right to participate in open sessions of the DRM General Assembly.
  • Invitations to DRM-hosted or partner events.
  • Access to the monthly DRM newsletter sent to members.
  • Logo displayed on the DRM website (note: DRM logo use is not free for products).
  • Limited technical support for DRM demonstrations and developments, if aligned with DRM’s general strategy.

After the one-year period, members can upgrade to regular Associate or Full Membership. Full Members enjoy voting rights, a seat on the Steering Board (if elected), and access to the Members-Only Area and technical support.

Membership Options for Individuals


In addition to organisational memberships, the DRM Consortium also recognises individual supporters.

The DRM Consortium also recognises individual Supporters of the Consortium, who help with the promotion of the standard in a given country. It also appreciates and rewards individuals who have contributed substantially to the promotion and implementation of the standard by becoming Honorary Members.
