DRM Solutions for Desktop and Portable Receivers
CML Micro (www.cmlmicro.com/) in co-operation with Cambridge Consultants (www. cambridgeconsultants.com) (UK) have developed a small, low-power and low-cost DRM portable receiver module for both DRM in AM and FM, as well as the corresponding analogue frequencies.
The DRM1000 is the world’s most versatile Digital Radio Mondiale (DRM) capable consumer broadcast receiver module. It is a complete ‘antenna-to-audio’ solution providing a fast, low cost and low power means of achieving mass market receivers of AM, FM, and DRM broadcasts worldwide. It is aapproximately 48mm x 28mm x 3mm in size.
The new DRM1000 module opens the low-cost end of the DRM receiver offers.
DRM1000 evaluation board shown demonstrates:
- User interface based on push-buttons
- Small low-cost display
- MW, SW and VHF antennas
- Complete radio requiring no external processor
- ‘Antenna to speaker’ solution
- Only active components are display and power supply regulator
DRM1000 supports a serial control and data interface:
- Allows use of an external host
- Can deliver data services for external processing / display
DRM1000 supports:
- DRM Consortium’s Minimum Receiver Specification, v4.2
- Journaline advanced text
- Emergency Warning Functionality
CML Micro’s solution can be acquired by radio manufacturers in various countries globally in order to produce DRM digital radios locally, therefore at reduced costs for the consumers wishing to buy those digital receivers.
