Chile has a vibrant commercial radio sector and industry leaders appreciated the opportunity to learn about the advantages of DRM as it considers its options for the digitisation of radio. The Executive Technical Director of Archi and the technical heads of several radio groups were shown how the flexibility and spectral efficiency of DRM+ make it compatible with the existing FM spectrum plan in Chile. It was also explained how broadcasters can offer their audiences an enhanced experience with rich media content and data services in addition to superb sound quality. After a discussion about simulcast options and transition planning, it was pointed out that the adoption and roll-out of DRM in India and Russia, and, potentially, Brazil, mass consumer markets, could reduce the cost of receivers worldwide.
