After nearly 20 years since the first digital radio tests in Brazil (started in 2005), and following discussions with various Brazilian broadcasters, Mr. Nascimento concluded that the time had come to revisit the topic since digital radio did not move forward in Brazil in these last two decades. In 2005, according to the organizer of the workshop, DRM was very young and there was no available frequency band for DAB. Besides, IBOC solutions were not the “silver bullet” hoped for to restore AM radio coverage and quality, the focus of discussions twenty years ago.

Since then, the scenario has changed both in Brazil and the rest of the world. For this reason, DRM has been invited to partner in hosting this workshop. DRM representatives will give a brief overview of recent and exciting DRM developments, and the DRM open standard enhanced technical capabilities and benefits.
