DRM at Digital Radio Broadcasting Summit – Africa 22nd – 24th April 2014 Cape Town, South Africa

Ruxandra Obreja delivered a presentation on the first morning of the summit on Digital Radio Mondiale (DRM) – digital benefits and opportunities for all stakeholders and listeners.

A DRM workshop on the second day of the conference was well-attended and featured a special live DRM transmission of BBC World Service to Africa from the Ascension Islands.  The digital DRM transmission broadcast on 21735 kHz was clearly received at the event and also displayed full text.

Whilst in Cape Town, there have been a number of separate meetings arranged with among others, Radio Pulpit, the first DRM member in the country. Radio pulpit received just before workshop DRM test license for one year and will start a MW test covering Pretoria and Joburg with a couple of hundred receiver to be made available to key listeners.
