DRM Consortium and RRI Indonesia Ready for the DRM General Assembly in Jakarta Live or on Zoom

The DRM Consortium General Assembly 2026, a comprehensive event, will take place in Jakarta, Indonesia, on 5-6 May. This is the first time that the DRM Consortium partners with an important broadcaster, like Radio Republik Indonesia, RRI, to hold its annual meeting in a country of the Asia-Pacific region where DRM is currently the prevalent digital broadcasting standard with countries like Indonesia, China, and India embracing DRM.

The first, full GA day, 5 May is open to members and guests in person or on Zoom: s.drm.org/ga-2026-zoom-registration.
The open day will be a celebration of DRM successes, a place where important Indonesian and international representatives will give updates on their digital radio rollout and plans. It will also be an open forum for discussing progress of DRM, a standard with advantages and benefits on all terrestrial broadcast bands that go beyond excellent audio and text to services like emergency warning functionality and e-learning. The presentations will be enhanced by three demonstrations of DRM broadcast equipment and receivers (including DRM and DAB+ solutions).

In Jakarta, guests and members will assess the progress made in delivering multi-standard receiver solutions that can become the blueprint for many other countries and continents ready to implement open technologies. Unique prototypes were already shown last year after being tested by Indonesian specialists. One such prototype was hailed as the first in the world and showed the path for a multi-standard receiver roll-out in many countries like South Africa, other African countries and elsewhere in the world.  This year there is so much more to see as the full transmission chain is ready for implementation.

On 6 May the DRM members only will vote and confirm the election of the new officers and bodies of the Consortium. They will review the DRM activities in 2025–2026 and set the strategy, as well as very ambitious targets in a demanding media environment, for the coming year.

For Ruxandra Obreja, the DRM Consortium Chair,

“this general assembly will be a completely new experience, the stage for unveiling new multi-standard solutions and presenting receivers that can give Indonesia and other countries full access to best audio, multimedia and special benefits like emergency warning functionality and distance learning. This celebratory get-together will be a unique event run together with RRI for whose support and involvement we are most grateful.”
