The DRM Consortium has released an updated Chinese version of its latest DRM Handbook – version 6.0.1, bringing the Chinese edition into line with the latest English release announced at the DRM General Assembly in Jakarta in May 2026. Both editions are available as free downloads via handbook.drm.org.
Chinese-speaking readers can now access the expanded text in their own language. Key updates include:
- More detailed explanations and examples of DRM Multichannel transmission.
- Guidance on the Emergency Warning Functionality – EWF Manager, which connects national alert systems with DRM’s EWF.
- Expanded coverage of Journaline, including opportunities for audience engagement, interactivity and additional revenue.
- Regional profiles for local script support and further guidance for receiver developers, including user interfaces and receiver functionality.
The updated translation makes this technical and practical reference more accessible to Chinese-speaking professionals working on the introduction and development of DRM services.
The DRM Consortium thanks Prof. Wang Xuan (Communication University of China) and Ms. Fu ShanShan (Fraunhofer IIS) for preparing the updated Chinese translation.

About the DRM Handbook
The handbook provides a practical introduction to Digital Radio Mondiale for broadcasters, regulators, receiver manufacturers and others planning or implementing digital radio services. It explains how DRM can be used across the AM and VHF bands and covers transmission, reception and the delivery of audio and data services.
The ongoing development and refinement of the DRM Handbook is coordinated by the DRM Technical Committee, chaired by Johannes von Weyssenhoff.
