DRM Presents at DBS 2026

ABU-DBS-2026-coverThe Digital Broadcasting Symposium (ABU DBS) organised yearly by Asia Broadcasting Union (ABU), , taking place in Kuala Lumpur from March 30 to April 2, will explore how the broadcasting and media world are tackling the transformative rise of synthetic intelligence and creative technologies.

The symposium is held each year in Kuala Lumpur. It consists of a conference, an exhibition, masterclasses, and workshops, and attracts close to 1,500 participants annually, representing over 350 organisations across the Asia-Pacific region and beyond.

This year the DRM Consortium will be represented by Mr Alexander Zink, DRM Consortium Vice-Chair and Chief Business Development Manager, Fraunhofer IIS, and Mr Sharad Sadhu, Technology Consultant and Honorary Member DRM Consortium.

Both DRM experts will present aspects, experiences, and strong arguments for what many Asian countries need: full country coverage with digital audio and services like emergency warning functionality which is already part of the standard.

1. Mr Sharad Sadhu will be presenting on April 1st (day 2) 14:00-15:00:
Session 7 | Advancement and Innovation in Media Distribution & Delivery  His presentation title is “Countrywide Coverage is Paramount for Digital Radio”.

The approach to this presentation based on the need for providing digital radio access to all the population of in the respective countries, not just to those living in cities and very large towns. He will advocate the use of multiple frequency bands, allocated to radio broadcasting, to achieve this objective. He will illustrate his presentation with several practical examples.

2. But Mr Sadhu will do his presentation come right after moderating the first session on April 1st (day 2) 09:00-10:00:
Session 4 | Advancements in Broadcasting Technologies and Standards

Mr Alexander Zink will expand the arguments on full-country coverage also showing the wealth of in-built benefits which digital radio can offer the countries that have adopted or are in the process of adopting and rolling out the only all-frequency bands, open and global standard, DRM.

3. Mr Alexander Zink will be presenting on April 2nd (day 3) 10:30-11:30:
Session 9 | The New Soundscape: Emerging Innovations in Radio Technology and
His presentation title is: “DRM – Digital Radio Mondiale: From Full-Coverage to Full-Service”
