The DRM Consortium is pleased to see over 13.2 million cars on Indian roads. In unprecedented growth for a country’s automotive industry (starting only after 2017) this great number of new cars, practically one in every three sold in India, has now a DRM receiver in its dashboard.
This achievement is also due to local ingenuity, involvement and investment of Indian and global brands showing Make in India in action.
Once the government decides to mandate DRM in the FM band as well, just a software update would bring to these cars and the ones ready to roll out in the future the full and complete DRM standard and all its extra benefits in both AM and FM. Now the industry is ready for instant DRM-FM receiver rollout in India.
The quality of digital radio DRM could be recently sampled at the BES 2026 expo where DRM was received in AM in a small and affordable electric car. After market solutions were also on display proving that DRM is moving forward leaving nobody behind.
