DRM Supports UNESCO’s Call for Radio in Cars

With over 6 million Indian cars fitted with in-built receivers, at no cost to customers, the DRM Consortium and DRM listeners are convinced of the power of radio in the automotive. Therefore, the DRM Consortium fully supports the joint call upon technology and automotive industries issued by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) on World Radio Day (February 13th) to ensure that radio remains available in cars.
During the recent BES Expo (Broadcast Engineering Society) in New Delhi, India, the DRM Consortium (https://www.drm.org/drm-digital-radio-bes-expo-2024-vistors-enjoy-drm-live-broadcasts-in-car/) gave visitors the chance to compare old analogue sound with excellent live DRM digital Medium Wave audio and text in a car parked in the rather “inhospitable” audio environment of an exhibition hall. Listeners could get live updates on All India Radio News 24/7 on DRM Digital Radio.
Radio, digital DRM radio is offering accessibility, immediacy and intimacy. DRM, with its all-frequency band coverage and extra benefits, like distance education and emergency alerts, can fulfil and fully supports the call of UNESCO “to protect the free and unfettered access radio provides to a plurality of opinions and to trusted information”.
