In preparation for running the DRM test and demonstration of providing distance education to the Gambia in west Africa via DRM shortwave broadcasting from the UK (by Encompass), we are running a test on Friday 28th March (public test): 1700-1900 UTC 5875 kHz.
This “dry run” will primarily target in southern Germany and Switzerland but might reach where you are as well.
This is the last such trial ahead of the in-person demonstration in the Gambia scheduled for next month. The actual test and “proof of concept” demonstrating that audio, text and pictures, live and for storing and later use, can be delivered without internet will involve Gambian partners, DRM members and local and international groups and organisations. This will be the first such trial in Africa and anywhere in the world. The DRM Consortium will focus on demonstrating the wide reach and advantages of DRM e-learning while increasing the awareness of DRM and its applications.
If you can receive the prepared lessons (which will be run on a loop) please send a quick email to: projectoffice@drm.org with your name, place and time of reception.
