Is it possible for a private station to use DRM? – Your Question Answered

Is it possible for a private station to use DRM?

(Radio enthusiast, Tamil Nadu, India)

As FM stations are looking to the future digitisation is the way forward for getting more content with excellent audio and data, with often larger coverage with less electricity consumption and less energy costs. In recent trials it has been demonstrated that one antenna and FM transmitter can host up to 18 audio channels and 6 data channels belonging to one broadcaster or being shared by several broadcasters which can also share the transmission costs. DRM has been deployed successfully in India and extending its use to the FM band for public, private and community radio stations is a matter of political decision now.
