At the invitation of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) of India the DRM Consortium to took part in an educational workshop organised in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, on the 22 November. The aim was to introduce DRM, present the standard’s Emergency Warning Functionality and give a practical demonstration of this system to the participants.
Around 20 senior officials representing Kerala, Goa, Maharashtra, Puducherry, Lakshdweep and Gujarat attended the event.
The DRM representatives introduced the DRM standard, the All India Radio digital roll-out plan, as well as DRMs unique capabilities like the Emergency Warning Functionality. The NDMA workshop participants had the opportunity to watch a practical, illustrative demonstration of the Emergency Warning Functionality. At the end of this successful workshop the participants urged NDMA to get support for the practical use of the DRM Emergency Warning Functionality in their coastal areas.
