An active group of Indian grassroots enthusiasts has taken up the challenge of publicising the benefits of the DRM standard all over India. Their campaign focused very much on the car showrooms presenting many brands of Indian cars already displaying DRM radio on their dashboard. These campaigns led by Dr Thamminana KR promoting the DRM digital radio standard for use in cars have been conducted successfully in various regions of the subcontinent (Goa, Kerala, Varanasi etc.) for a few years now.
The latest initiative is to demonstrate the effectiveness and excellent sound and benefits of DRM on the road in Varanasi, the city on the Ganges river in northern India that has a central place in the traditions of the Hindu world. The video demonstrates the reception of an AIR DRM mediumwave broadcast by AIR in Varanasi while using one of the oldest languages in the world, Sanskrit. The short presentation of this live DRM transmission is Sanskrit can be enjoyed by watching this following video on YouTube:
