South African broadcasters experience quality DRM transmission at Mediatech/SABA DRM Workshop

The DRM Consortium held a very successful workshop in Johannesburg during the recent Mediatech/SABA conference in Johannesburg. DRM experts presented the international roll-out of the DRM Standard to more than 50 delegates who attended the workshop. During the workshop delegates listened to a live DRM SW BBC World Service transmission from the Ascension Island which was received on a DRM radio receiver in the conference centre. The live broadcast demonstrated the wide reach of the DRM signal, as well as the high quality sound free from interference or distortion. The positive feedback received from the audience at the end of the event, proved that African and South African broadcasters are keen to implement this robust, high quality international digital radio standard for the benefit of their listeners in the not so distant future.
