- Question
Can we use analogue and digital at the same time in DRM? And does the analogue FM frequency stay the same?
(Prima FM, Indonesia)

DRM Digital radio allows for dual illumination and simulcasting, which means that you can continue, without interference, to broadcast FM programmes as long as you need to, before eventually transitioning all your listeners to the new digital radio DRM platform. We recommend this period should be relatively short so that stations do not have to pay double the costs. DRM FM transmissions can be fitted in the currently available white spaces, as these cannot be used for analogue transmissions, anyway. DRM FM transmissions can be achieved with the same coverage, but with up to 90% energy savings. All digital radio receivers can also receive analogue transmissions by default.
