Your Questions Answered: Is the Alternative Frequency Service part of the DRM features

Is the Alternative Frequency Service – AFS part of the DRM features?

(American manufacturer)

Yes, and it simply means that the DRM service can link to a whole range of alternative frequencies and standards including DRM, DAB, AM and FM. Moreover, there is no reason why a DRM FM-band transmission should not include alternative frequencies in the AM bands and vice-versa. DRM linking to AFS frequencies within the same band may also be useful – for example, a private broadcaster sharing a band-III slot in Indonesia while being on-air in the FM band with their own transmission.
