The DRM Consortium General Assembly 2026, a comprehensive event, will take place in Jakarta, Indonesia, on May 5-6. This is the first time that the DRM Consortium partners with an important broadcaster, like Radio Republik Indonesia, RRI (rrri.co.id), to hold its annual meeting in a country of the Asia-Pacific region. Members from Indonesia and other countries all over the world will contribute with presentations, comments and suggestions.
The first, full day, May 5th is open to members and guests. It will be a celebration of DRM successes but also an open forum for discussing the rollout of DRM in Indonesia and other countries. The presentation will be enhanced by innovative demonstrations of DRM equipment and solutions from some of the Indonesian and international members.
In Jakarta, guests and members will assess the progress made in delivering multi-standard receiver solutions that can become the blueprint for many other countries and continents ready to implement open technologies. Unique prototypes were already shown last year after being tested by Indonesian specialists. One such prototype was hailed as the first in the world and showed the path for a multi-standard receiver roll-out in many countries like South Africa, other African countries and elsewhere in the world. This year there is so much more to see as the full transmission chain is ready to deliver special benefits like Emergency Warning Functionality (EWF) and e-learning.
On May 6th the DRM members only will announce the election of the new officers and bodies of the Consortium. They will review the DRM activities in 2025-2026 and set the strategy, as well as very ambitious targets in a demanding media environment, for the coming year.
For Ruxandra Obreja, the DRM Consortium chair, “this general assembly will be practical, a real forum for unveiling new multi-standard solutions and presenting the receivers that alone can give a country like Indonesia full access to best audio, multimedia and special benefits like emergency warning functionality. This will be an ambitious project run together with RRI for whose support and involvement we are most grateful.”
