The DRM Consortium congratulates NXP, one of its key members, on this important milestone and acknowledges the company’s significant contribution to the development and deployment of the Digital Radio Mondiale all-bands standard.
NXP has played a particularly important role in bringing DRM digital radio into the automotive market. DRM receiver technology developed by NXP, including important development work carried out in India, has helped enable the large-scale introduction of DRM-capable car radios.
India today represents one of the world’s largest deployments of digital radio in cars, with more than 13.2 million DRM-equipped vehicles already on the road, many of them using receiver technology developed by NXP. This is also a strong example of how a global technology company can combine international expertise with local development, engineering and value creation in India – contributing directly to one of DRM’s most significant deployment success stories worldwide.
As a member of the DRM Consortium, NXP continues to play an active role in the development and promotion of DRM. NXP currently chairs the DRM Automotive Group, bringing together broadcasters, automotive manufacturers, technology companies and other industry stakeholders from all over the world to support the further integration of DRM in vehicles.
