Am reading different facts about the DRM deployment in India. Has DRM been introduced in the FM band?
This decision is still eagerly awaited, and it is currently in the hands of the Government of India and all the responsible Indian authorities but it is obvious that the best option is to extend DRM to the FM band in the future, too. For now, India has adopted DRM as the only digital radio broadcast standard with one of the world’s largest digital radio deployments with nationwide digitisation of MW and SW bands. Currently India has 35 high-power DRM MW and 2 SW transmitters operating in DRM. Six more DRM transmitters in MW and two more DRM transmitters in SW are due to be launched by Prasar Bharati. Current DRM transmissions can reach 900 Million people (in pure digital mode), giving them access to rich DRM digital radio content from All India Radio (AIR). AIR have invested in exclusive and advanced radio features, such as exclusive radio broadcast audio programmes (news 24/7, cricket, etc.) and multi-lingual, interactive Journaline text information.
