The General Assembly agenda includes the latest updates on key markets like China, India, Indonesia, South Africa, Nepal and other countries in Africa, Asia, and Europe.
Videos and quick updates on the latest DRM presence at WAVES India, eLearning Africa Tanzania or the Gambia, hosting the first ever DRM distance learning demonstration, will be informative and ground-breaking. Exciting news about new receivers and receiving solutions are also on the agenda.
The DRM General Assembly is where DRM members analyse what has been happening in the DRM world in the last year and set the strategy for the coming year. Presentations doubled up by interaction is what the DRM GA 2025 will be all about.
New and established members of the consortium will present their activities in their own countries, their new products and give input into the wide-ranging initiatives of this not-for-profit organisation.
Key speakers from the US and the Middle East, Ms Madeleine Noland, President of the Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC) and Mr Stefano Fallaha, CEO and Founder of Podeo (podeo.com), a media company based in the Middle East will also address the assembly.
The DRM GA is not only a chance for participants to present and update those interested on their DRM efforts but also to exchange wider views, network and establish new connections.
A quiz will be circulated shortly, and better and bigger prizes than ever before will be announced at the DRM GA.
The 17th May half day will be a closed, members only, General Assembly meeting dedicated to the evaluation of the progress made by DRM in the past 12 months. This will be the forum to discuss and approve the strategy for the coming year.
For the DRM consortium chairman, Ruxandra Obreja, “this annual meeting comes at a crucial moment when we see DRM developments of note in Asia and Africa, the rest of the world. We have more members and more projects than ever before, all aimed to progress the take-up and roll out of the open DRM digital standard for all. It is an exciting time, and we are inviting all to join us on this important journey.”
About DRM
Digital Radio Mondiale™ (DRM) is the universal, openly standardised digital radio system for all broadcasting frequencies and coverage needs.
DRM on short, medium and long wave up to 30 MHz provides for efficient coverage in large areas with at least FM quality, while significantly reducing power consumption. DRM in the FM & VHF bands above 30 MHz enables flexible local and regional broadcaster-controlled services, with up to 3 stereo audio programmes plus multimedia components in half the bandwidth of a single analogue FM signal.
ITU recognized the DRM Consortium for its outstanding contribution to the Telecommunications sector over the past year. The DRM Consortium has signed the EBU Smart Radio Memorandum that promotes access to free to air radio on all devices.
