Successful DRM Presentation at eLearning Africa 2025 in Dar es Salaam

DRM Consortium members Starwaves and Fraunhofer IIS, together with the DRM South Africa Group, successfully showcased the power of Digital Radio Mondiale (DRM) for education at eLearning Africa 2025 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

At the German Pavilion, visitors experienced first-hand how DRM can deliver educational content — including lessons, textbooks, audio programmes, and interactive exercises — directly to communities without reliable internet access. Special interest was shown in the demonstrated Gambia education project, which illustrated how affordable, low-power DRM receivers can support learning even in the most remote regions and during events where internet connectivity is unavailable or disrupted.

The presentation attracted strong interest from organisations keen to develop and broadcast educational content via DRM.

We are excited to build on the many promising first contacts made during the event and look forward to deepening these discussions in the coming weeks.
