Dear Friends, Colleagues and Partners,
The DRM Consortium members continue to support all its activities and prepare for new events. One will be the ABU Digital Broadcasting Symposium where two DRM representatives will make full presentations on country coverage with DRM and the benefits this can bring.
The World Radio Day in February, and the successful DRM Consortium participation continued to attract interest, especially due to the global and multi-language broadcasts on the five continents achieved on the day. We will just mention some of the feedback we received from faithful and interested supporters.
Some press articles and interviews will complete the digital radio picture and the central place occupied in it by DRM.
Preparations are also continuing for the DRM General Assembly, on May 5-6 in Jakarta, Indonesia. You are warmly invited to participate in the one, VIP Day, on May 5th or if you are a member on both May 5th and 6th.
In 2026 we keep open the invitation to join us as a free member. If interested, please make sure to get all the information.

This aligns with the industry’s readiness for DRM, as demonstrated at BES Expo 2026. Further reinforcing this momentum, a recent article by Radio TV Link highlights the growing consensus among Indian broadcasters and manufacturers on DRM as the most viable path for digital FM transition, complementing the insights shared in the Red FM interview.

DRM Offers Alone Full Country Coverage
In an article recently published by Red Tech the DRM chairman makes the observation that in their understandably cautious digitisation process, some countries have embraced a single digital standard, such as DRM in India. For full country coverage and additional benefits, DRM has been adopted or is under serious consideration as the sole standard by countries such as China, Pakistan, Nepal and other countries in Asia and Africa.

DRM Voice from Pakistan
Can DRM Bring Radio Back to Life? Is the question asked by Roman Afroz, radio specialist in Pakistan. Using one of the social platforms he argues that “radio is not dying, it is waiting for its digital transformation.” Here are his further thoughts:
Digital Radio Mondiale (DRM) offers a powerful path forward by turning traditional AM/FM broadcasting into a modern digital platform. With DRM, broadcasters can deliver near-FM audio quality, multiple channels on a single frequency, and data services such as emergency warnings, text, and images.
Even more important, DRM allows countries to upgrade existing AM/FM infrastructure instead of replacing it, dramatically lowering the cost of digital transition while expanding nationwide coverage.
For developing economies, DRM could become a strategic communication backbone, supporting disaster alerts, education, public service broadcasting, and rural connectivity.
The technology is ready.
The infrastructure already exists in many countries.
The real question is: who will move first to unlock radio’s digital future?
