The DRM digital audio broadcasting system has all required tools built in – and is supported by available chipsets for a quick and complete mass notification (including impaired listeners) when disasters/ catastrophes occur. DRM receivers can switch signals and use alternative frequencies to get emergency programmes providing listeners with complete and detailed information by audio and multilingual on-demand text (Journaline) EWF delivered through DRM. Using the accepted CAP for EWF programme content, this functionality has been demonstrated fully in India, and is available just now on 5 DRM FM Transmitters in Indonesia.
