Largest Community Radio Association Community Media Forum Europe (CMFE) supports DRM+ in Brazil

The largest Community Radio Association, CMFE, has written a letter to the Brazilian authorities urging them to adopt DRM+ as the only standard that will fully support the more than 4,000 small community stations in the country.

DRM is one of the two digital radio standards under consideration for adoption as the digital standard in Brazil.  In supporting DRM+ as the choice for Brazil, CMFE states that “DRM+ main characteristic is that it is the only open worldwide standard for viable digitization of local FM radio in a Eureka 147 compatible way.  For community radio, mostly operating its own transmitter systems, an open system is of importance.”
