A bright future beckons for digitisation in Asia-Pacific region

Digital Broadcasting Symposium (DBS), the annual event organised by Asia-Pacific Broadcast Union (ABU), was launched successfully in Kuala Lumpur this morning.  In the introductory keynote industry speech Ruxandra Obreja, DRM Chairman, argued for the value added benefits of digital radio at a critical stage of its introduction in the Asia Pacific region.

The DBS principal sponsor – DRM – sees the value of digital radio in all broadcast bands (AM and VHF) that can offer thus superior audio quality with extra services. Ruxandra Obreja thinks that radio digitisation is not in doubt and that its drivers are and will be: mobiles, cars and enhanced quality content.

The DRM Consortium is also conducting a workshop at DBS on what questions and criteria should be considered by broadcasters, regulators and governments when choosing best radio digital standard.
