The annual meeting of the oldest DRM national platform, the German DRM Forum, took place on 10 and 11 June in Berlin. It was hosted by the public broadcaster Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg (rbb) on June 10th and by the Berliner Hochschule für Technik on June 11th.
In addition to a short report from the DRM General Assembly, the German DRM Forum was informed about the most important activities of the consortium, the election of the new enlarged Steering Board, trade fair appearances, the current receiver developments and the status of DRM education project.
Media Broadcast explained that its activities for the use of DRM shortwave are focused on maritime applications. After a brief insight into the results of WRC-23, there was a presentation on emergency alerts using digital radio. There was also a presentation on the new WorldDAB-EWS system; the German DRM Platform also discussed its planned introduction in Germany.
The Danish report mentioned the discontinuation of the LW transmissions from Kalundborg but also the beginning of new activities such as the construction of new antenna systems for 25 MHz, MW and SW.
Finally, the successful SW DRM transmissions from the Waldheim station in Saxony were mentioned.
The next meeting of the German Platform is planned before the summer break in 2025.
