Have read about the Indian government recommendation that all mobiles should include FM (http://digitalradioinsider.blogspot.com/2023/05/fm-radio-and-smartphones-go-together-in.html. Is there any promising technical progress to include not only analogue FM but also DRM+ in smartphones?

The DRM Consortium welcomes the Indian governmental recommendation as this will future-proof radio, as a key information, emergency warning and education platform in the over one billion Indian mobiles. The step from analogue FM to DRM for FM in mobiles is theoretically the shortest and easiest for any digital audio broadcast. Technically this is not a hurdle. But the progress towards including DRM in mobile phones depends on business considerations and also on the cooperation between telecom and broadcasting. The DRm Consortium is open to any cooperation with the mobile industry in India and the world.
