Following a small test transmission in July, the BBC and Encompass announced a second public test in early August to prove that DRM is a suitable distribution platform for audio, text, graphics and everything that is needed for education required in parts of the world where the internet is not available. The actual project is aimed at Africa, so this was just a preliminary test for which a lot of positive feedback came from all over Europe.

A foretaste of all this was given on September 6th as a virtual event, to an audience representing all continents around the world.
This year’s IBC DRM virtual event, held on 6th September, was very well received by many participants world-wide. The much-awaited session on DRM receivers gave the listeners and viewers the opportunity to learn about new, hot off the press, receiver products and solutions in this sector.
